2005 Employer Satisfaction Survey
The Employer Satisfaction Survey has been conducted every other year since 2001 to assess employers' satisfaction with recent graduates from Alberta's education system regarding academic and technical skills, non-subject specific skills and overall responsiveness of Alberta's education system to their human resource needs. In 2005, changes were made to the survey instrument to collect information separately for high school graduates and post secondary graduates. In total, 2200 surveys were completed with Alberta employers in December 2005.
Key Findings
- 25% of Alberta employers currently employ recent high school graduates from Alberta's education system.
- 77% of employers were satisfied with the overall skills and quality of work of recent high school graduates.
- 71% of employers of recent high school graduates agreed that Alberta's education system provides an adequate supply of high school graduates.
- 64% of employers of recent high school graduates agreed that Alberta's education system provides appropriate skills for the high school graduates.
- Employer satisfaction with recent high school graduates' non-subject specific skills was highest regarding these graduates' ability to work with others towards a common goal (86%), to learn continuously (84%), to work safely (84%), to be adaptable and work individually or in a team (83%), and to participate and contribute to projects and tasks (83%).
- 51% of Alberta employers reported providing education or training assistance to their employees within the last 2 years.
