Assistive Technology for Learning

Digital Repository for Students with Special Education Needs

A new online repository houses digital versions of grades 4 to 12 student basic textbooks for English language arts, mathematics, science and social studies. The secure repository is one strategy for addressing the needs of Alberta students with disabilities that affect their ability to read print materials.

The textbooks are available as PDF files, which can be used with text-to-speech software such as Read & Write Gold. The files are only for the use of students who

a) have an Individualized Program Plan,

b) are registered in the related course, and

c) have a print copy of the related textbook.

To access the Digital Textbook Repository, log in to the Learning Resources Centre with your LRC Account #, user ID and password. Your school LRC account administrator (e.g., principal, secretary, purchaser) can create an account for you. You can also e-mail your request to lrc.support@gov.ab.ca indicating your name, school name, phone number and job title.
