Emerge 2010 Summit - August 15 - 18, 2010 Banff, Alberta poster Emerge 2010

The Emerge 2010 Summit will bring together participants from across Alberta and around the world in exploring the use of one-to-one laptops and related technology to support 21st Century teaching and learning. 

The Emerge Summit will take place at The Banff Centre from August 15 to 18, 2010, and is open to the K-12 education community including leaders, teachers, technical support directors, policmakers and researchers.  Registration opens on September 30, 2009.

Who should participate in EMERGE 2010?

The target audience for the Emerge Summit is the K-12 education community including leaders, teachers, technical support directors, policy makers and researchers. Emerge participants have an interest in advancing their skills and knowledge in the implementation of one-to-one laptop learning and in fostering 21st century teaching and learning. There will be independent streams for leaders, teachers and technical managers.

What can participants expect from EMERGE 2010?

The summit will feature leading-edge keynotes, hands-on workshops, interactive concurrent demonstrations, discussions with key one-to-one and 21st Century education leaders and researchers, an educational technology exhibit, and lots of networking and social activities. Participants can expect to learn and network and also experience Canada’s largest mountain range in the heart of the Rockies at the Banff Centre.

Emerge Summer Institute - August 19 - 21, 2009   

EMERGE, TECHNOLOGY AND HIGH SCHOOL SUCCESS and SUPPORTING INNOVATIVE CLASSROOMS PARTICIPANTS ARE INVITED TO ATTEND.

The 2009 Emerge Summer Institute is two intensive days of professional learning and collaboration for participants in the Emerge One to One Laptop Learning Project, the Technology and High School Success Initiative and the Supporting Innovative Classrooms Initiative.

Grant Recipients' Meeting - May 14, 2009

On May 14, 2009, Alberta Education’s School Technology Branch hosted a Grant Recipients’ Meeting for project lead contacts/project leaders.  

The purpose of this meeting was to: 

  1. Share the project scope and goals;
  2. Clarify project expectations, opportunities and supports;
  3. Clarify roles and responsibilities of participants;
  4. Update on provincial research;
  5. Share lessons learned from previous projects; and
  6. Provide strategies for project evaluation and work on individual assessment plans.

This day included presentations, working sessions and networking time.  The following PowerPoint presentation was delivered in the morning by Marilyn Steier, Project Manager.
