The Principal Quality Practice Guideline: Promoting Successful School Leadership in Alberta February 2009
The principal's role has evolved over the past half-century. This document, developed by Alberta Education through a stakeholder advisory committee and reviewed by principals, superintendents, schools boards and other stakeholder groups, addresses the new focus of the role of the principal.
Alberta Education’s School Technology Sector is continually monitoring research on best practices in the use of technology for teaching and learning. Research articles or reports from outside sources that may be pertinent to the work of school leaders will be included on this website. The information in the articles or reports does not necessarily reflect the opinion of Alberta Education.
The standards in the book provide a comprehensive portrait, complete with sample performance tasks, of what technology facilitators and leaders do to ensure successful technology use in classrooms. Scenarios, case studies, discussion questions and resources related to implementing the standards are also provided. With each chapter dedicated to a single standard, the authors provide insight, advice and tips for every level of facilitator and school leader.
