Strategy 3: Collaborative Partnerships
Approaches that are comprehensive, culturally sensitive, holistic and broadly-based are showing promise.
Students do not come to school separated from the lives they live outside the classroom doors. From bullying to student mental health, Alberta’s High School Completion Framework addresses how schools, social service agencies and government can work together to support students and their families, and keep them in school.
Providing access to a menu of activities and services in a safe environment helps improve student attainment, self-confidence, motivation and attendance. Examples of activities may be the provision of study support, sport, music, art, special interest clubs, volunteering, and business activities.
