Alberta students benefit from increased allergy awareness Students across the province are benefiting from better knowledge in their schools about severe allergies. Resources provided to all schools by the Alberta government are increasing awareness among educators and caregivers about allergy causes, effects and treatments.

Alberta commits $4 million to send students to WorldSkills 2009 Thousands of Alberta students will have an opportunity to explore trades and technology occupations and learn from the best in the world, thanks to $4 million in provincial funding that will send Grade 9 and 10 students to the WorldSkills competition being held in Calgary next September.

Province moves forward with construction of 18 new schools in Calgary and EdmontonThe Government of Alberta has signed an agreement with BBPP Alberta Schools Limited, to design, build, finance and maintain 18 new state-of-the-art schools in Calgary and Edmonton through a public-private partnership (P3).

Social Studies resource encourages students to become active citizensA new learning resource created by the Alberta government encourages students to get personal in making their community a better place. The new resource, which promotes involvement in municipal government, is designed to support the new Grade 6 Social Studies curriculum.
