Hancock showcases Alberta’s education system in Singapore

New education subsidy to enable First Nations, Métis and Inuit adults to become teachers
The Government of Alberta has teamed up with Northland School Division and other northern school jurisdictions to provide a tuition and cost-of-living subsidy to support up to 40 First Nations, Métis, and Inuit (FNMI) adults in northern communities as they study to become teachers.

Albertans discuss the future of education
More than 1,000 Albertans shared their ideas about the future of education at 10 community conversation sessions held by the Alberta government in eight locations across the province between April and June. Edmonton hosted the final session in the first phase of Inspiring Education: A Dialogue with Albertans, with more than 100 people in attendance.

The Government of Alberta augmented national Aboriginal Day celebrations across Canada by hosting a noon-hour gathering in downtown Edmonton, celebrating a $25,000 award winner and announcing a new pilot project under the Safe Communities Innovation Fund (SCIF).

Alberta talent showcased in five community celebrations on Arts Days
Keyano College inFort McMurray, the Myer Horowitz Theatre in Edmonton, the Fine Arts & Multi Media Centre in Olds, the EPCOR Centre in Calgary and the Esplanade in Medicine Hat have been chosen as this year’s feature celebration sites for Arts Days 2009. Each of the sites received support from the Government of Alberta to plan and produce Arts Days activities.
