GED Tests – Answer Sheet Formats
The answer grids require you to shade in the appropriate circles. The following example is the answer sheet used for three of the five GED tests: Science, Social Studies, and Language Arts—Reading.TIP: The circles are spaced closely together; it is advisable to place a blank sheet of paper along the vertical columns to ensure that the correct circle is filled in.

The Language Arts––Writing Test has the same type of identification page as previously illustrated. An example of the Part I answer grid is shown below, and page 14 shows a sample of a lined page on which the Part II essay is written.
TIP: Actual answer sheets provide two lined pages for the 250-word essay. Legibility and the size of your handwriting must accommodate the fact that you will have only two pages allotted for your finished essay, which must be written in either blue or black ink.

Mathematics also has the same type of front identification information as previously illustrated. In addition to the multiple-choice answer format, Mathematics uses two other types of answer grids: the Standard Answer Grid and the Coordinate Answer Grid, which are shown below.
Note: The 2002 GED preparation guides illustrate how to shade in the circles on these two types of grids.
