Below you will find links to scholarships for Alberta K-12 students and teachers seeking to internationalize their education or teaching experience.
Students
T. Mikuriya Award – To provide financial assistance to Alberta high school students who have been accepted into an existing exchange program with a Japanese school.
Grant MacEwan World Colleges Scholarship – To reward Alberta's best Grade 11 students with a chance to complete their high school at one of the twelve United World Colleges located throughout the world.
Lee Global Education Awards – To provide financial assistance for young Albertans to engage in experiential international education activities.
Teachers
Language Teacher Bursary Award – To assist certificated Alberta teachers in completing a post-secondary summer program in a language other than English or language pedagogy course at an institution outside of Canada.
Chinese Language and Culture
Confucius Institute Scholarship:
In order to support the development of Confucius Institutes, facilitate Chinese language promotion and Chinese cultural transmission in the world, cultivate qualified Chinese language teachers and talented students of Chinese language, Confucius Institute Headquarters/Hanban launches the “Confucius Institute Scholarship” program to provide financial aid for students, scholars and Chinese language teachers worldwide to proceed to a Master’s degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (MTCSOL) in Chinese universities or study in such majors as Chinese Language and Literature, Chinese History and Chinese Philosophy.

Chinese government scholarship:
Each year, the Government of China provides 5 full and 10 partial scholarships enabling Albertans to study in China. Alberta high school graduates, post-secondary students and scholars wishing to participate in Chinese language studies, academic study at the undergraduate or graduate level, or research are eligible. The language of instruction is primarily Chinese; however, the program may sponsor and recommend remedial Chinese language studies for applicants who are not applying for the Chinese language study program.
Applications for the Chinese Government Scholarship program are usually accepted until mid-December for studies commencing in September of the following year.

Students camps, study and scholarships in China supported by Confucius Institute in Edmonton: Students who have participated in Chinese Bridge Annual Chinese Competition in Alberta , or participated in other programs in Alberta, will have opportunities to go to China for a month’s summer camp or winter camp, with cost inside China covered by Hanban.

Chinese Tests scholarships and Summer Camp: For the purposes of encouraging overseas students’ motivations of learning Chinese and attending tests, Hanban has developed the Scholarships & Summer Camp Project. Scholarship laureates will be offered a one-month trip of study in China with financial support.

Overseas Chinese teachers training program: The program is designed to equip trainees with systematic professional knowledge in Chinese language teaching, sound Chinese teaching ability and Chinese culture promotion ability through systematic teaching, teaching observation, case study and trial lecture based on different characteristics of teachers of various countries. Tuition, board and lodging expenses and teaching materials fee will be exempted. International travel expenses shall be covered by applicants on their own.

Master Degree program of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages: it is a full scholarship program supported by Hanban. The teaching objective of MTCSOL is to cultivate the high-level, applicability and versatile talents who can adapt to the Chinese language international promotion task and are competent to use Chinese language as a second language or for foreign language teaching purpose. Recipient of MTCSOL degree should have solid cultural background of Chinese language which can be used as a second language or as a skill for foreign language teaching, a higher level of foreign language understanding and intercultural communicative capability.
