Why go on exchange?
Exchanges are more challenging and more rewarding than simple vacations. They enable you to:
- experience another education system;
- share the strengths of Alberta's world class education system;
- expand your knowledge of another country;
- enrich your school culture through the visiting foreign teacher;
- develop long-lasting friendships; and
- experience another way of life.
Our exchanges
Swap jobs (and homes) for a year with a teacher in Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Germany, Denmark, Switzerland, or other provinces in Canada. With Alberta Education's Post-to-post educator exchange program, you continue to be paid by your Alberta school jurisdiction, and return to your own teaching position after the year is over.
We also offer short term exchange programs for teachers and administrators. These short term job shadow programs with Germany and Denmark occur during spring and summer holidays.
Alberta Education has been supporting teacher exchanges since 1979 and in that time, hundreds of Alberta teachers have taught in classrooms all over the world.
