Education Week 2008

Minister’s Message

As Minister of Education, it is my privilege to invite you to celebrate Education Week across Alberta this year, which runs from April 27 to May 3, 2008.

This occasion invites us all to reflect on the importance and value of having a good quality education and to celebrate our province’s education system.

This year’s theme, Today’s achievements expand tomorrow’s horizons, reaffirms the Government of Alberta’s commitment to ensure that students have diverse and meaningful educational opportunities to get the knowledge and skills they need to reach their full potential.

Education Week is also a time to recognize the excellent work of educators, parents, administrators and Ministry of Education staff—all of whom continuously work to strengthen Alberta’s education system.

Extraordinary things are happening in our schools each day, and Education Week is a perfect time to celebrate such admirable efforts.  Hundreds of schools throughout the province will celebrate Education Week through activities involving teachers, staff, students, parents and communities.

I would like to take this opportunity to recognize and thank everyone involved with Education Week 2008.
